In our last newsletter we reported on the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) and announced the Managing Director of Cambrian Boats & Storage, Robin Vaughan was competing in the event. We recorded that this newsletter we would provide an update.
The first part of the journey saw the Oyster 825 yacht, ‘Champagne Hippy’ head south following the African coast in a plan to catch better winds for the journey across the Atlantic towards the Caribbean. Rewarded with some spectacular marine life, dolphins, pilot whales and turtles the plan saw some early improvements in placings and by day three ‘Champagne Hippy’ had moved up nearly thirty places and the estimation for completing the journey reduced by three days.
We are now on the final leg of the event. Three boats have finished with Champagne Hippy just 457 nautical miles from the chequered flag and estimated completion date of 9 December 2019. Having already sailed 2,532 nautical miles in the event the team at Cambrian Boats in Swansea are looking forward to the safe return of Robin Vaughan and the first hand stories from the event. We all here salute all those who have competed in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers in 2019. Congratulations no matter what the placing.
